OUR EFFORTS
GUS Cares is a Global University Systems (GUS) Canada initiative to make a substantial contribution to help those impacted during the COVID-19 pandemic. GUS Canada represents five Canadian post-secondary institutions, including University Canada West, Canadian College of Technology and Business, Toronto School of Management, Trebas Institute, and The Language Gallery Canada.
GUS Cares is involved with a number of initiatives, including supporting established non-profit organizations to purchase, assemble and deliver care packages to those in need.
GUS Cares has identified United Way Centraide as a key community organization that is providing support for the most vulnerable in key communities.
Aaron Etingen, GUS CEO and founder, has made the first substantial contribution to this effort. GUS Cares is seeking partners in the business community to expand this initiative.

GUS Cares has partnered with United Way Centraide to help more people in need at this critical time.
GUS Cares is providing care packages for distribution by United Way Centraides
in Metro Vancouver and Toronto. These care packages are made up of personal care products and personal protective equipment. They have been assembled in each city by a team of dedicated student volunteers, who have taken the time to volunteer in the community.
United Way Centraide is creating lasting change in local communities from coast to coast to coast and that is why they make such a great partner for the GUS Cares initiative.
Their Local Love in a Global Crisis initiative is an excellent example of the work they do and the people they can reach.
We’re calling for others to make a contribution to this initiative to help as many people in our communities as we can.
Help raise $1 Million to feed our friends and neighbours through United Way of the Lower Mainland.
GUS Cares, through University Canada West, is proud to support United Way of the Lower Mainland’s efforts to feed children, families, seniors and other people in crisis by donating to their Local Love Food Hubs.
United Way Local Love Food Hubs provide perishable and non-perishable, culturally appropriate food and/or meals as well as other items such as household goods that are simply too costly for families and individuals, who are struggling financially at this very challenging time.
The goal is to have 50 Local Love Food Hubs in place in neighbourhoods across the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley by the end of May. Currently, there are 17. It is not enough.

University Canada West, Canadian College of Technology and Business, Toronto School of Management, Trebas Institute and The Language Gallery Canada have also launched their own individual initiatives as part of this program to help people in need. This includes University Canada West’s UCW Community Helper Program, where volunteers purchase and deliver groceries for seniors and people with compromised health conditions.
